Creating original hand stained art on wood and acrylic paintings.
In a world currently full of browns and greys, I love color. I believe that color brings joy through its vibrancy. And I obviously love creating beautiful one-of-a-kind, unique abstract art on wood that involves color.
I stain all of my pieces using just my fingertips and hands. On occasion, I will use a foam brush or a small paint brush for detailed work. The wood I use is mostly birch, but I will occasionally find a different piece to add color to.
Every day, I can't wait to get out that next board and create. I most love using colored stain on wood because of the way it is absorbed into the grain of the wood. It shows you what the wood truly wants to do and many times an initial vision may change and become "the happiest of accidents". I also love the way the addition of an oil based top coat and sealer cause the art to continue to evolve by adding dimension and layers that are hard to capture in a photograph.
I use several staining techniques and each of these bring a different abstract vision to the individual viewing the art, which I truly love. I like to see what my collector sees as well as having my own vision realized and appreciated. I am a huge music lover as well and many of my titles will reflect that.
Painting with acrylics and mixed media on canvas is another way I express myself. Many of these paintings are adorned with some type of "sparkle" because I'm just a fan of things that light up. I call my acrylic paintings "blingpaintings".
